Healthcare reform is here!
Major reform of the United States healthcare system has taken many detours, but now it is here. In a historic vote on March 21, the U.S. House of Representatives approved H.R. 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, by a vote of 219 to 212. H.R. 3590 is the health care bill passed by the Senate on December 24. President Obama signed the bill into law on March 23.

The House also passed H.R. 4872, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, a bill that included provisions from the President's proposal and other revisions to the Senate bill. This bill was presented as a reconciliation bill. Pieces of the bill were amended by the Senate, causing the bill to go back to the House where it was approved by a 220-207 vote. President Obama signed the bill into law on March 30.
